The Nutcracker
When creating a new ballet – especially a classic such as The Nutcracker – an unimaginable amount of time is invested in conceptualizing, envisioning and planning how to bring together the elements necessary for producing a magical artistic experience for the audience as well as for our dancers. The process is risky, lengthy, and all-consuming but the rewards are monumental. One of the greatest rewards for me has been working with so much talent at every level.
This amazing production, which has been three years in the making, could not and would not have happened without the extraordinary gifted artists, technicians, stage management, designers and production crews all of whom excel in skill, talent and innovation problem-solving and camaraderie. I am prodoundly grateful for them all including our teams in Wales and Seattle.
Reviews
“Orlando Ballet debuted its brand-new production of “The Nutcracker,” by artistic director Jorden Morris, Friday night at Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The huge investment was meant to create a production that could last 20 years; it already has set a record for ticket sales, executive director Cheryl Collins said Friday: More than 20,000 people will see it this season. I think they will be very pleased.”
“Morris and the whole Orlando Ballet team have created something magical. It certainly is a beautiful Christmas present to Central Florida, one that will rightly endure.”
