Caitlin Steel

Assistant/Rehearsal Director

Caitlin Steel, originally from New Hampshire, began training with the Boston Ballet School at the age of fourteen. Five years later she was asked to join Boston Ballet II, where she danced many company works including Balanchine’s Jewels, Serenade, La Valse, Four Temperaments, Mikko Nissenen’s Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. In 2009, Caitlin accepted a position with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Terry Orr. Caitlin quickly became a favorite artist of guest choreographers, being chosen for many soloist and principal roles. Well known for her vivacious stage presence, certain roles became her signature, including Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, William Forsythe’s In the Middle Somewhat Elevated and James Kudelka’s Man In Black. In 2011 Jorden restaged his production of Peter Pan for PBT, casting Caitlin as Tinkerbell. Two years later Caitlin premiered the role of Natalie in Jorden’s Moulin Rouge, the Ballet.

Caitlin retired from the stage in 2016, and began working with Jorden as choreographic assistant. In 2017, Caitlin joined the creative/design team of Jorden Morris Productions. Most recently, Caitlin was promoted to rehearsal director and plays a key role in the upcoming premiere of The Great Gatsby for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
